History

In the history of the Faculty of Physics, the Department of General Physics has a specific place, which is determined by its main function - to teach through the General Course of Physics students from other faculties of the University. At the same time, the department is integrated in the training of the specialties of the Faculty of Physics. The Department of General Physics was established by decision № XVI-283 of the Ministry of Culture on February 18, 1955. Its initial staff was formed mainly by lecturers from the Department of Experimental Physics, headed by Prof. Nadjakov. The first associates of the department are: Assoc. Prof. A. Raev, Senior Lecturer O. Taseva, Lecturer M. Moldovanova, Senior Assistants: V. Popov, M. Chetkarov, Senior Lecturer. Goranova, A. Peeva, St. Dimitrova and the assistants: A. Angelov, M. Milyashev, V. Vassilev, St. Kanev, Tsv. Bonchev. For the needs of the department at 49 Moskovska Street there are 3 rooms for offices and 1 for laboratory and at Shipka Street 14 - 3 rooms for offices and 2 for laboratories.
